About the Exhibition
Open Tuesday, March 11, to Friday, March 28, 2014
Edmonton has often been called Dirt City. Yet dirt is the foundation for growth.
We thrive on dirt. We cultivate it.
To cultivate is to nurture, to develop, to grow. To help improve. Cultivation is the constant attention given to make something better and bigger than what it already is. We at PrairieSeen are poised to dig deeper; to put down roots in the community, cultivating new ways of seeing our surroundings, and ourselves. The work in Cultivate is a rumination on this theme of growth, of change. Of becoming more than what was before.
PrairieSeen is an Edmonton-based art blog that discusses local art and the artist community in this city. With their art-history backgrounds, Chelsey van Weerden and Tori McNish have been consistently and compellingly contributing to the conversation about the arts community and the visual culture of this place for over a year and a half.
