Meet at The Drawing Room on Friday, May 2 at 6 pm to join founder, Chelsea Boos on a Dérive through the inner city. Along with Leanne Olson, Chelsea will be hosting a psychogeographic tour taking us off our predictable paths and jolting us into a new awareness of the urban landscape.
According to Guy Debord's essay Theory of the Dérive written in 1958, "In a dérive one or more persons during a certain period drop their usual motives for movement and action, their relations, their work and leisure activities, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there."
The walk will begin at the Drawing Room at 10253 97 Street and drift through Edmonton's Downtown East. We will end at Brittany's Lounge at 10225 - 97 Street for drinks and post-walk follow up discussion.
REMEMBER: Bring pen and paper, camera, or recorder to document what you experience during the dérive.
